SOCIAL WELFARE FOR SINGLE MOTHERS

Human services aim at meeting basic human needs of needy people. The poor, the disabled, and other vulnerable groups in the society are entitled to many social welfare programs that aim at giving them better lives (Benefits.gov, n.d.). Social welfare programs offer services such as housing, education, and health services for vulnerable groups.

Jane, as a 24-year-old single mother of two children aged four and two, is entitled to various social welfare programs. The fact that she is a homeless single mother living in a church shelter qualifies her for housing assistance from the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) (Benefits.gov, n.d.). This program targets people with large families who have very minimal – the unemployed or people with limited income due to disability.

Jane also qualifies for the Federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program through state agencies (Benefits.gov, n.d.). She is unemployed and has two children who solely depend on her. The program offers financial and in-kind assistance to poor and needy Americans.[Need an essay writing service? Find help here.]

Jane and her two children are also eligible for the social assistance for single parents program. The program is funded by the federal government and targets single parents who are not engaged in any meaningful occupation and are not eligible for registration under the Job Plus Act (Benefits.gov, n.d.).

Jane and her family are also entitled to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), was previously known as the Food Stamp program, and the WIC program that offer supplemental nutritional assistance to the poor (Benefits.gov, n.d.). Lack of household income and her dwindling financial reserves qualify her for this program. The WIC program limits itself to children less than five years of age.[Click Essay Writer to order your essay]

Jane and her children are also eligible for the Medicaid program that offers medical cover for low income and poor American households. The program will help her and her two children to get free access to health care (Benefits.gov, n.d.). It is funded by the federal government in conjunction with state governments.[“Write my essay for me?” Get help here.]

I would recommend that Jane applies to all the mentioned social welfare programs. These programs will allow her to take good care of her two young children and herself before she finds a job.
