Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology

Radiofrequency identification (RFID) technology is one of the IoT components that precisely refer to passing information between the digital and physical world. RFID Technology involves objects communicating with each other via radio waves, exchanging information amongst them. Advantages of RFID compared to traditional barcodes in healthcare systems include; indirect exposure to the card reader, lack of restrictions in utilizing different barcodes, reading and writing capabilities, and simultaneous multiple card reading. The most important advantage of RFID is indirect exposure to the card reader. It is significant in minimizing contagious diseases within the healthcare system (Noori, Shakeri, & Torshiz, 2020).

Ultrasound-based systems protect health care facilities from contagious and infectious diseases. Protection is done using the technology to track and isolate the infected part of the healthcare system or facility. It provides emerging solutions and directions to handling contagious or infectious illnesses by predicting, detecting, and monitoring people’s symptoms within a system. Ultrasound-based systems also enable contact tracing of infected people within a facility, for instance, in the case of the coronavirus. Ultrasonic beacons are attached to transceivers and users. Radiofrequency messages and ultrasonic pulses are simultaneously broadcasted by beacon units enabling the calculation of infection transmission (Nguyen et al., 2020).

The application of RFID in school ID badges in several ways is abused. State policymakers should be ready to confront and regulate the consequences of the application of RFID in schools. The learning environment may be less nurturing and uncomfortable to students. The technology interferes with trust and unity learning needs by creating barriers between students, tutors, and officials, portraying a negative image of the school to students (Tucker & Vance, 2016).
