Introduce Tesla to China Essay Example

Introduce Tesla to China

Tesla was founded in 2003 in Silicon Valley with the primary objective of producing electric cars that perform better than those powered by gasoline. However, its history dates back to 1888 when Nikola Tesla patented a sports car built around an AC induction motor (About Tesla, 2017). The vehicle had the capability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, and this established a new standard as far as electric mobility was concerned (About Tesla, 2017). Gradually, the vehicles produced by Tesla have improved with the Model S, released in 2012 but further configured in 2014, accelerating from 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. The vehicles use high-speed charging by charging half of the battery within 20 minutes. This product is produced in Fremont, California.

Introducing the product to China will aim at solving or at least reducing the pollution issue, which is a grappling problem. In January 2017, 32 cities in the country were placed on ‘red alert,’ and more than 50% of the vehicles in Beijing were banned from the road (Nielsen, 2017). Based on the fact that Tesla vehicles are not powered by gasoline, the emission levels are expected to reduce together with the country’s carbon footprint. The main idea is to ensure that the product eventually brings value to the country by solving one of its most persistent problems. From a general perspective, there should be other measures put in place such as limiting the production and use of coal and ensuring manufacturing factories limit their carbon emissions.
